The 8th International Collage Exchange (ICE 8) exhibition is a debut of the newest collection of artwork gifted to the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts Permanent Collection. The gift consists of 160 collage works from the 8th International Collage Exchange (ICE 8). ICE 8 is an annual art exchange, organized by internationally acclaimed collage and assemblage artist, Dale Copeland of Puniho, New Zealand. ICE 8 features collage artists from all around the globe including six countries and over twenty US states. The exchange allows works from each artist to be:
The artist not only has the opportunity to add two exhibitions and two museum permanent collections to their resume, but also add ten collages by other artists to their personal collections.
Every year one collage from each artist is gifted to a permanent collection of an international museum. The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is honored to be the recipient of this year's 8th International Collage Exchange, by adding 160 works of art to the TCVA's Permanent Collection. As stated in the TCVA's Permanent Collection mission, the program was established with the belief that the arts play a vital role in experiencing, interpreting, understanding, recording and shaping culture, supports the mission of the center and the university by acquiring, documenting, preserving and exhibiting works of art. The Permanent Collection makes works of aesthetic and historic significance accessible through an extensive exhibition and loan program that:
November 3rd, 2006 marks the celebration of a tremendous gift of artwork from the 8th International Collage Exchange (ICE 8) to the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (TCVA) for placement in its Permanent Collection. The gift consists of 160 unframed collage works from collage artists all over the globe, including six countries and over twenty US states. An exhibition opening and reception on Friday, November 3rd will also kick off this year's fundraiser, a unique program designed to raise the funds necessary to appropriately frame and mat this collection with archival materials.
